Bambi. Sweet, darling, innocent Bambi. No one could be afraid of this beloved woodland creature, could they? Yup. I was terrified of him. Allow me to explain.
As a child, I had never seen the movie Bambi (this was the pre-VCR era, you know), but I had a bambi doll passed down to me from my older sisters which sat on my toy shelf. It wasn’t a plush, squishy doll, but more of a figurine with felt-like fur. Perhaps if I had seen the movie, my psyche would know Bambi meant no harm. But one night, when I was around 4 years old, I had a dream that Bambi chased me down our stairs. I can still remember that dream vividly. The only thing that kept him from attacking me was that he fell on the stairs and broke his little figurine leg. I looked at him and he snarled at me. Bambi had fangs! I woke up screaming from that one.
After that, I was terrified of that Bambi toy. I put it away in my closet, only to realize that Bambi is even scarier when he is peeking at you from behind your shoes. By the time I turned six or so, I came to grips with my fear and Bambi once again found a home on my shelf. Though I never looked him straight in the eyes…
Oh my – ROTFL about Bambi peeking out behind your shoes! Glad that you worked it out and that you and Bambi are better friends now. LOL. :)
OMG *snork* That is the funniest thing! I’m so sorry you were traumatized, ROFL. BTW, I still have never seen the Bambi movie *shrug*
Sorry, I laughed, that was a pretty wild dream. Man is in the forest.
I hate to say I am laughing at your childhood fear, but it is funny!! Its so werid how when you are a kid your imagination is so vivid. It cracked me up that Bambi broke his leg on the stairs, its a good thing, you would have been trampled. And I thought Bambi was always so sweet…
