Sea and Sand - Day 3

Don’t let the photo fool you. DD had a great time on Sunday, our third day at the shore. Actually, we all had a great day, especially the dads in our group - what with it being Father’s Day and all!
My dad and I got an early start and shared a bike ride on the boardwalk - just the two of us. We rode all the way down to the end of the boardwalk and stopped at Oves for doughnuts and coffee. Yum. Of course, everything was even sweeter given the fact that only weeks earlier, I was on my knees praying for my dad while he was in the hospital. This was the kind of thing I was visualizing in my mind as I prayed…a goal…to be with my dad, happy, healthy, at one of my favorite places on earth, just enjoying each other’s company. What an answer to prayer.
We had another great morning at the beach, building castles, collecting more shells and starfish. Those poor starfish. I’m still trying to figure out what caused them all to wash ashore, clinging to shells and mussels for dear life. I could almost hear their little voices - like Peach in Finding Nemo - “Find a happy place, find a happy place!” Hopefully some of them found their way back to sea.
After returning home, DS began campaigning hard for a round of put-put. Turns out, this made the perfect father/son outing for DS and Bob. The two of them walked up to DS’s favorite miniature golf place on the boards, Congo Golf? I think that’s what it’s actually called. DS calls it Gorilla Golf though, because of the big animatronic gorilla that breathes steam on you as you walk by. They had a great time.
After a yummy spaghetti dinner, we headed over to Aunt Betty’s Ice Cream Shack for water ice. I got the Mango. The kids got lemon, and Bob the rebel got some kind of malted coffee ice cream creation, I think.
I’ll post pics in the gallery tomorrow!
