Interlock Week 9 and 10

I’m so happy that we happen to be doing week 10 (trees) of Interlock this week. Even though the leaves have not shown their vivid colors yet, this week will give us lots of opportunity to be outside enjoying the Autumn weather.
Today was actually a little bit of week 9 catch up for us (we have not done our leaf rubbings yet) so we headed over to the park at lunch time and collected leaves from trees and bushes. We found some pine cones too - so I’m thinkin’ there’s some kind of bird feeder craft in our future as well.
By the way, last week, one of our readings on plants in the Childcraft Encyclopedia mentioned George Washington Carver’s work with peanut plants. DS (my first grader) loves inventor bios and we found a GREAT one at the library today on Carver. Here’s the link to it over in my Library. If you have a first grader using the Interlock, this is a great way to supplement week nine. For all I know, (and I don’t know) Carver may be covered later in Weaver, but I found this bio was a great way to add a little history. The book discusses his faith in God as well!
