Happy Little Thanksgiving Craft

I’ve had a bit of an attack of the crafties lately (maybe because I’m avoiding housework.) In addition to the Christmas cards I’m working on, I decided to take on this fast, easy napkin ring craft…and I thought I’d share it with you, too!
If you have older kids, this might be a project they’d enjoy, too. Fearing that my young’ns would drop more forks than they would wrap, I elected to wait until my kiddos were asleep. It’s pretty straight forward, but here’s the step by step, just in case!
You’ll need:

Utensils! I used these “plastic-that-looks-like-silverware” utensils from Costco.

Napkins - Big, generous ones, also from Costco.

Strips of colored card stock or construction paper. I used card stock, cut 5.5″ W x 1.5″ H.

Thinner strips of complimentary colored paper. I used card stock, cut approx. 4.75″ W x .5″ H. (Note: The photo shows the strips before I cut them in half.)

You’ll also need scissors, glue dots (or some kind of adhesive), and raffia (yarn or string would work great, too).

For a fun bit of texture, I also used the Fiskars Paper Crimper on my green card stock strips. You don’t have to use this. Instead, you could stamp the paper, the kids could decorate the paper, you name it.
Steps
You’ll want to complete all the paper assembly first, before breaking out the napkins and utensils. It goes pretty quick if you do it assembly-line style.
Step 1 -

If you’re using a crimper, run all your larger strips of card stock through the crimper, creating a crinkled look.
Step 2 -

Place two dots of adhesive on either end of your smaller strip of card stock.
Step 3 -

Adhere your thinner strip of cardstock to the vertical center of your thicker card stock.
Step 4 -

Apply two dots of adhesive to one end of the card stock strip.
Repeat all these steps until you have the number of strips you’ll need for the number of napkin bundles you’re making.
Now you can clean up your work surface, wash hands, and break out the utensils and napkins.
Step 5 -

Place a fork, knife and spoon on each napkin, and roll them up.
Step 6 -

Taking one of the card stock strips, wrap the strip around the napkin snugly with the adhesive end underneath, and press so the adhesive sticks. This doesn’t have to be super strong adhesive, it just needs to hold long enough for you to tie the raffia around the card stock ring.
Step 7 -

Tie your raffia, string, etc. around the center of your napkin ring, and trim the ends.
Done!

Loved the napkins, but not nearly as much as the Wubbzy music. It’s music to “surf” to.
