Encouragement

It’s been a tough week! The children, hubby and I each battled with a tummy bug this week. Hubby was hit the hardest, the kids and I got off easier, though I wouldn’t want to duplicate the chills, backache, and loss of appetite I experienced on Monday anytime soon.

Anyhow, we’ve been “bio-bubbled” (as I call it) all week, staying close to home and doing our best not to infect others. I was feeling down-in-the-dumps this morning. Maybe it was the fatigue of my still mending body, the cabin fever/isolation I’ve been feeling – either way, I needed a pick me up in the worst way.

I found it in the form of the devotion I had today, entitled “A Purpose Beyond You,” in the book Take a Closer Look for Women. The verses referenced were Exodus 2:10-11,speaking of the name “Moses” meaning “to draw out” and how later, when Moses was an adult he “drew out” his people from Egypt. Here’s an excerpt of the encouraging commentary that followed:

You are significant to God. You always have been. Who you are, and what you do, matters. Today matters. Each choice you make to do something on behalf of God’s purposes, He will multiply far beyond what you’ll ever be able to imagine.

Let this truth change how you might live this day differently. See the potential. Strive for your best. Somewhere, tucked into what seems routine, is the beautiful unfolding of the purpose of you.

I hope you are encouraged by this too.

  1. Bec,
Again a great entry. I have to do a little talk at a mom’s group on Thursday and that thought fits in perfectly! I will have to “steal” it and add it in the content. It is truly an encouraging word for all of us moms!
    Have a good one! -Hol
