We hop over to the local library just about every Friday. Today was quite snuggly as we sat on the library couch reading together. The rain patted on the huge windows of the library, which looked out over the thick, pre-summer greenery outside. Perfect day for some library read-aloud action.
The kids and I have made some fun library finds recently which I thought I’d share:
Jim Benton
Franny K. Stein series. I’ve mentioned this one before. We’ve read just about very book in the series now. Very cute, and just a teeny bit irreverent.
Doreen Cronin
Diary of a Worm, Diary of a Fly, and Diary of a Spider
These three books are by the same author of the Click Clack Moo books. My 7 year old son loves these.
P. D. Eastman
My 5 year old daughter makes a bee-line for this classic author’s section of the library every week. Her favorites:
- Are You My Mother?
- Flap Your Wings
- Go Dog, Go!
- Big Dog, Little Dog
- Fred And Ted Like To Fly (by his son, Peter)
We just checked out Sam and the Firefly today. I’ve never read this one, so I’m looking forward to it.
Another recent favorite of mine is Alison Jay’s 1 2 3 A Child’s First Counting Book. Her illustrations are captivating.
