Countin’ My Blessings - Week of October 23rd

Monday Morning Bible Study
I’m so thankful for the women I meet with each Monday. I’m grateful for their friendship, their humor, their wisdom, and their honesty. They are a perfect, encouraging way to start my week. We have just started the Bible study series called The Amazing Collection. I’m excited to be on this journey with you, ladies!

Messy Nest
The house is all cluttered and messy. I think I need to be able to accept this as the norm. I’m coming around to this concept slowly but surely. I’m reminding myself to be grateful even when things aren’t necessarily presentable. I’m continuing to add structure to my routine (I thrive on schedules) and that’s helping a bit. Procrastination and perfectionism. I’ve got ‘em both…and they are a dangerous combination. But I’m thankful for this messy nest today. And one way or another, it will get cleaned up.

Lori
My friend Lori was a blessing to me this week. She probably doesn’t even realize it, but she was. Thanks, "Loriborialus" :)

School Pictures

Schoolpic_3Let’s rewind back to September. DS has his school picture taken, and when he came out of school that day, I eagerly asked him how he smiled. "I did my Leopard Man smile," He responded matter-of-factly. "What’s your Leopard Man smile?" I asked, afraid to see his answer. He shows me this goofy, I’m-pushing-something-out-my-nether-regions expression that had me convinced we were destined for retakes. fast forward to yesterday. I’m driving over to pick him up, and wondered to myself when pictures would come in…and wouldn’t you know it…they were in his backpack! They turned out so cute…don’t ya think? I’m soooo glad that other smile wasn’t featured this year :)

Pumpkin Carving

Yeah, that’s right. Pumpkin carving can be a blessing of sorts. As Christians, Bob and I have weighed the options of what we do and don’t want to focus on ’round Halloween time. It’s been a bit of a challenge (especially when our church moved the harvest party to a date other than Halloween) but we have, I think, made this into a holiday not to celebrate vampires and scarey stuff, but rather the blessing of family. The kids do dress up, we light the pumpkins and they trick-or-treat to a few houses. The rest of the time we spend hosting our extended family for our traditional chili and cornbread dinner. The kids had alot of fun today helping with the pumpkins. DS designed the faces, and DD helped arrange the seeds for toasting. Good family time.

  1. Cool beans about the wonderful Bible study! School pictures and little boys - you are in for a ride on that journey. I never know what to expect from John, even after all these years. This years: eyes closed. *Sigh* ya win some, ya loose some. You won - this picture is adorable! Sadly, I lost. Good thing we take lots of our own pictures.

  2. Yep, looks like you’re blessed! :) That school pic is adorable!

  3. His photo turned out so cute!!! I love it!!! And the house thing, so there with you!
