Sweet, sweet bonding.

Hang out the flags, people.

DD’s going through a "Mommy phase" right now.

For those that don’t know my baby (she’s actually 2.5, but we call her baby) girl, here’s a little review. DD is a major Daddy’s girl. I’m happy she’s been so connected with her father. After all, he is an excellent daddy…why shouldn’t she be devoted to the guy? But, if given the choice between him or me, up until recently she would almost always utter those esteem smooshing words, "I wan Daddy."

During waking hours, this sometimes leaves me feeling a bit undervalued and wondering (especially when we are with extended family) if people are pondering why my daughter seems to have no interest or desire to be with me. However, at night, this unwavering devotion to her father has come in quite handy. At 3am, when Anna awakes wanting a little company and a smackerel of milk, the sweetest words I’ve ever heard from my screaming daughter’s lips were "No, I wan Daddy!!" So I took the good with the bad, you see. And my husband, God bless him, got up with her almost every night. It got to the point where I didn’t even hear her some nights.

Everything they say about "Karma" and her attitude is true, my friends. DD’s loyalties now seem to be squarely with me, both in the PM and the very AM. Bob’s tried to get up with her, and she won’t let him. "I wan MOMMY!" She wails. Frankly, with me, she’s getting the short end of the stick. I’m so tired I can barely make out the buttons on the microwave to warm her milk. And yet, somewhere past the bleary-eyed sleep deprivation of it all, I am thankful for the extra snuggle time with my girl.

Can’t she just spread the love around a little more evenly? :)

  1. Sounds like she is practicing up on her teenage skills. By the time they reach puberty, they are fickle as can be. By then, they have learned to “work the system” of which parent works best with whatever it is they want at that moment. She is ADORABLE. I love her piggy-tails!

  2. Well that’s just precious! Tho, here’s hoping I have some daddy’s girls someday who only want to get up in the middle of the night with DAD!

  3. Well, she’s darling, which ever parent she happens to favor for the moment. I’m giggling about Kelly’s comment….SO true about fickle teenagers!
