Bob was in a race on Saturday! He woke up and asked, "Think I should run a 5K today?" I said "Sure!" …and then he did! Gotta love his energy!
The kids and I came to cheer him on. DS even slapped him "five" as he went by. He came in around the middle of the pack…about an 8 minute mile.
Now he’s all pumped about doing a 10K. He’s training during his runs this week…the 10K is this weekend, I think.
What a guy. I wish some of his fitness would rub off on me. I ran back in college and I loved how fit and trim I felt. I gotta get back into that…yeah…in my spare time. :)
Actually, I noticed something interesting as Bob and I were looking over some stats from recent 5 and 10Ks. In the female 30-35 age range, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners were all around the 8-9 minute mile mark. It is an interesting age pocket – the next younger age range and the next older age range both had better times. I ran a 10 minute mile in college (I was a slow poke) but still…I’m starting to think I should take advantage of this slow age range phenomenon…I could actually do half-way decent in a 5K!
WOW, congrats to him! Well if he rubs some off on you can you mail me a little bit? :o)
wow! good for him. i could use some of that energy too :)
