Back in School!

Whew! We’re three weeks into our homeschool year! It’s been great so far, but boy, am I tired. It’s amazing how “out of the swing of things” I got in just a few short months. It’s going to be a while yet before my planning and prep time become as streamlined as last school year! Here’s the lowdown on what we are using this school year:

The Weaver Curriculum - unit study includes Bible, social studies, science, and creative writing
The Weaver Wisdom Words - Weaver’s grammar and language arts
The Weaver Success in Spelling - (for my 2nd grader)
Singapore Math
Artistic Pursuits - you can never have enough art!
Story of the World - for added history
Horizons Health - we really like this so far!
School Specialty Publishing Workbooks - for reading (2nd grader) and phonics (K)

So far the only thing yet to be decided is penmanship for this year. My 2nd grader is getting quite a bit of penmanship practice doing his daily creative writing and grammar lessons, but my kindergartner is in need of something. Jury’s out on that for now…

Favorite activities thus far? Building a shaduf (my 2nd grader’s idea) after reading about them in vol. 1 of Story of the World, and the creation of Mt. Mercer (a VERY active volcano) for science. Shaduf photos are below, the volcano photos (and video) will come soon…it just erupted today.

Some unique animals from our \"Artists See Form\" lesson.
