DS’s party invites went out today. We decided to have his birthday party at a local natural history museum this year. DS is excited to be partyin’ with the dinosaurs. Anyone know of any good dinosaur party favors? That’s my next project. :)
Worked out today…I’m loving the heart rate monitor. My target BPM for moderate exercise is 130-146. What’s interesting is that if I keep myself in this zone, not only am I exercising more efficiently, but I actually enjoy it more too. It’s not so hard that I’m huffing and puffing, and not so easy that I’m bored.
By the way, I know it seems terribly cliche that I’m discussing all this health/diet/exercise stuff at the new year. This wasn’t actually a new year’s resolution for me. It’s more of a December-get-your-cholesterol-number-and-go-into-shock kind of thing. So far I’ve lost 5 pounds since December. I wish they made home cholesterol tests. Actually, they probably do. Maybe I should research that. Anyway…that’s what I’m really concerned about with all this. Getting my cholesterol down to a reasonable level.
I haven’t mentioned this yet, but DH is in the middle of a cholesterol revolution himself. His test came back high as well, and his stress test came back less than perfect (more on that once we know more later this week.) So now here we are, two thiry-somethings taking fish oil and discussing saturated fat and stress tests. What happened to our ignorant, carefree youth?
