Me: "Good morning, Birthday Boy."
DS: "You can just call me DS today, mom."
Me: "OK, DS…So how does it feel to be five?"
DS: "Actually, kinda the same as being 4 and a half."
DS is home from school (he still has not been a full 24 hours without a fever – am I the only parent who actually FOLLOWS that rule, anyway?) But he has been fever free today, so he should be good to go tomorrow. DD’s fever keeps spiking each night. Sunday night the ear thermometer registered 105.3. I had to rub my bleary, 3:30 in the morning eyes to make sure I was reading it right. Of course, the next try (several seconds later) registered 103. Cursed ear thermometers. So convenient, and yet, so very useless. Needless to say, I laid her hot little self right beside me for the rest of the night so I could keep an eye on her. Last night wasn’t nearly as bad. She did get up at 8:30 and 10:30, but both times she was cool as a cucumber (as my mom always says.) 5:00 this morning was another story all together. You could fry an egg on her. Poor kid. She is usually so good about medicine, but even she has reached her limit on fever reducers in little cups. The doctor did confirm yesterday that it is not an ear infection, though. Just one big, crappy virus. That I have somehow managed to avoid contracting.
Did I just type that? That means I’m going to be sick tomorrow, right? :)
Becky, I hope that they feel better soon!!!! Happy Birthday to RJ!
