Zithromax, Undies and MOPS, Oh My!
Let’s start with the MOPS part :)
MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) was fun today. Our group had snack duty, so I made Triple Berry Crisp and Apple Sauce Cake with butter cream icing and little cinnamon hearts. Two of my favorite desserts to make. Ah, the joys of allrecipes.com. I have found countless yummy goodies off of that site. Especially helpful when searching for eggless recipes for DS. Our MOPS mentor’s talk was awesome…funny and informative. Love that woman.
Things kind of went down hill from there. After we all got home from church, school, etc. DD barely touched her lunch. She complained her ear was a "boo-boo" and started crying. Initially, I thought she just might be vying for more attention, having been in MOPPETS all morning, but even with me holding her and cuddling her she would squirm and shift around, as if trying to find a comfortable position. She seemed so uncomfortable that I was almost convinced that some kid in MOPPETS had shoved something in her left ear. Afraid her pain might become progressively worse, and worried that she might somehow have an action figure lodged in her eardrum, I called the pediatrician. Lo and behold, they actually had a 5:30 pm appointment. Called Mom and Dad (God bless ‘em) and got them on board to feed DS dinner since Bob was going to be late. After all that was set up, I gave DD some Ibruprofen. Before the medication even had a chance to go down her throat, let alone get in her bloodstream, she seemed better. She promptly hopped off my lap and began playing.
Well darn. So now I figure I’m going to be shelling out $20 to have my child’s pediatrician tell me my daughter is just fine. I quickly straightened up the house and made Turkey Stir Fry for DS and my parents. I grabbed DD, loaded her into the car, and halfway out of the neighborhood realized…
My daughter’s not in a pull-up. She’s in her Curious George undies. And she hasn’t had a bathroom break. For a kid who has only been toilet training for about a week, this is not a good situation. I pictured myself walking into the doctor’s office with a drippy, angry child. In actuality, my dear little girl stayed dry, and even took a bathroom break while she was there. She’s a week into training and she’s just about there. You GO, Anna B!!
Anyway, the doc peeks in the right ear. All is clear. Then she peeks into her left ear.
You know things are bad when your child’s doctor looks in her ear, recoils a bit, and says "Ew."
Yup. ear infection. No action figures or legos, thank heavens, just some weird infection that came with no fever or other symptoms. She’s on Zithromax.
But you know what, in spite of what a hectic, expensive afternoon this has been, I’m going to focus on the positive.
MY DAUGHTER IS ALMOST TOILET TRAINED!! Wooo_Hooo!!
And on a random note, here’s a scrapbook page from last night.
